Chronological lists of Musical Instruments, (and other things in the future), takes time to research and put together. Especially since I try to find products that has no such data as a whole. F.e. there are no lists of all musical instruments, (by a particular brand), on the internet. Your subs and likes could mean that someday I could do this for a job, and put out videos twice as fast. Thanx for all of the support! Feel free to make any suggestions in the comments.. Let's s make a little YT encyclopedia about musical instruments!

The OB12 wasn't strictly an Oberheim .. it carried the Oberheim name but had nothing to do with Tom Oberheim as he had lost the right to use his own name... still, it was released as an Oberheim and is part of the Oberheim legacy so it must be included. Great video!
Don't forget to include the fantastic AN1x in part 2 !!
Thanx bro! He is opening the show!
Lets do it bro. Subbed, liked and commented. Lets get this baby moving. Yamaha are an odd bunch. Not too focused on synths as such. Their contibution to the industry overall is epic. I run HS-10's and sub. Wonderfull. 👍
Thanks my man. That is my goal. To make musicians lives a tiny bit better so when they search for an instrument, it's easier to find it here, then thwy can move on and watch it reviewed on other channels / sites. Its not perfect, I know, but we are gonna make lists as close as possible.
@@TML0677 love it. 🎛️👍
Don't forget about the official Oberheim VST virtual synths produced by Gmedia in collaboration with Tom Oberheim & Marcus who worked at Oberheim. They model the OB-X, Oberheim Eight Voice & SEM module. The Oberheim name no longer means only hardware synths.
Very well researched & nice opening! The only missing thing is the arpeggiator "Cyclone", that looks similar to the strummer but of course works totally different.
Falta 1989 - Korg T series (T1/T2/T3).
I remembered 2 videos which present the entire PSR (not PSS) Yamaha history & even they forgot 1-2 models. Do you actually realize what work you have taken on? I was only able to select the models where the synth functions are obvious on the panel. . First of all Yamaha MK100 (1983) which is still analogue, but sounds like FM, was apparently the very first Portatone with a real synth in form of a turning role operated with buttons. The (obvious) PSR-synthesizers are: PSR16 (1988), PSR21 (1986), PSR22 1987), the cult kb itself: PSR36 (1988), PRS41 (1987), PSR80 (1987), PSR90 (1987) & possibly (but not sure) PSR6300 (1986). However, there were 1-2 predecessors from the last one in 1984 (with like mentioned possibly no synth inside). I've not seeked in the PSS departement & don't know exactly anymore which ones were included in your video and which weren't. Personally I know PSS 390 (with many synth sliders), PSS380 has the same ones, PSS 480, 680, 780 should be know, but PSS 790 & PSS795 (1990/91) have a clearly visible vector synth. & now it gets really confusing: Even in the late 8Os I've personally seen & touched still analogue(!) PSS with four buttons arranged in a rectangle to shape the sounds. DSR 500/1000/2000 should be known. Yanaha's monstrous HS 4 ,5, 6, 7 & 8 organ's contain a fully programmable TX81Z; without need for an additional computer like (unfortunately) HX1 did
I excluded organs.. Just mentioned a few as I remember. As you said :there is a thin line between advanced ones and synths. PSSes and PSRs I could do a separate job, if anyone would be interested. But growing up in the 80s I had a Casio, and some Yamaha of that nature. So again..hard to make a difference between synths and toys. I mentioned a few in the vid tho.
PSRs are considered arranger keys, or their predecessors. I plan to do a video about those. Thanx for the comment man, you are right about lot of things.. I read them all and always have something to learn, and improve future vids. As for what did I get myself into.: my head hurts, but I seem to love it lol
@@TML0677 As long as you're having fun. Since I own many synth- PSS/PSRs & even the HX1organ, I can only detect a difference between PSR & PSS in the size of the keyboard. Acoustically & even functionally there's almost none. I mean those from the FM realm.
I had the DX27. It was dreadful. I should have been called the "Why aren't you a DX7?"😂
Lol.. They are quite the same
@@TML0677 The DX27 only had 4 operators compared to the DX7's 6. Now, that might seem trivial, but when you're a spotty keyboard player from Grimsby in 1985, that's a big deal.
@@FatNorthernBigotin videos I coudnt tell the difference, but You Tube sound compession did the damage for sure
Different people in different online forums have insisted that the CS-01 is digital, not analog. How accurate is that?
The CS-01 is analog!
Wow! All in one (almost). Congratulation! 😁I signed up! 🙂
Welcome aboard! We are just starting.
The DSR-2000 from 1988 had synth editing capabilities.
Basically a TX81z, editable with an online free editor called Portasound JS
00:09 YAMAHA Logo in this video is belongs to Yamaha Motorcycle, not Yamaha Music. Yamaha Motorcycle Logo is different than Yamaha Music Logo. (just check it in the internet) Tuning Fork in Yamaha Music logo is INSIDE the circle. Tuning Fork in Yamaha Motorcycle logo is reaching the circle The letter 'M' in Yamaha music is different than Yamaha motorcycle logo.
Nice info, man! I was in the hurry.. finished the vid at 3 in the morning... 3 full days of work! My eyes are poppin. Didn't double check it. I had a couple of Yamana instruments over the years, and I know about the circle, but didn't know that motors had a different logo
"Tell me in the comments what I did miss", was the question in the video describtion. I guess its the CS10 if I ain't wrong. Apart from that everyone of us would certainly like to watch a 2nd part.
CS10 6th on the list. Part 2 incoming, no worries man. We're here to stay!
Nice music
Lovely work out there. Everything important you got there, there are of course grey zones within PS(S) FM lines and also all the various organs that are programmable and mixed up often with many synth features. My only issue is the music, this really deserves a soundtrack true to the instruments you are showing, ideally dynamically evolving together with introducing new pieces and technologies. All the best!
Thanx man. Means a lot. Copyright is the problem with the appropriate music. Okayish free songs are countable to a few hundreds..if that..so I must "save" for future vids
@@TML0677 I do have few of the instruments you showed (especially 70's and some 80's, no 90's but thats workable with other tools) and for this case (history, relevance / genuinity) I might be able to produce some music for you under creative commons licence.
@@DestroyER82wow, that be nice.. You can inform me when you do it, i can chose some tracks and put it in the info
@@TML0677 Im generally extremely busy, anyways I ll find some time in upcomming weeks to do it, will make one track for whole lenght to match the video.
MoogerFooger(s) 2018 ??? Missing all other racks like Vocoder : EQs 10 bands & para, string filter, phaser, dual VCO...
MoogerFoogers are at 4:26 I got a Moog 16 Channel Vocoder on 5:04 .., are there others missing? Thanks
@@TML0677 MoogerFooger(s) are NOT from 2018...
Guys I'm thinking about doing a vid(s) about famous songs played by a specific synths. A little help with Oberheim? And on other videos (synths) as well.
Some parts of the history are far more glamourous than others. Over all, a solid performance from a great man. Well done Tom. You have changed the world.
I still got my Fantom X7 hopefully it’ll last longer 🥲
How sbout xps10 and xps30
They are both in the video
@@TML0677 ahh ok! You forgot xps10/30 of your video hehehe
Fantom X6 is one of the best accessable synth´s ever made but wasn´t even on board. JD-800 is a real gold grip and was Klaus Schulze´s main synth. V-synth GT synth geeks praises as all time classic it´s unique in many ways but no one is talking about it anymore. SH-101 is underrated and Jupiter 8 Overrated. D-50 is D-50... They in deed made a lot of synth´s and how many Juno´s ??
X7, X8 ?
X7 5:24
Korg PS60 ? Kord I3 ?
Only synths, will do arrangers in the future.. Maybe all Korg lines with arrangets and rhytm machines..
W30 ? you didnt put it...
thanks ! Roland made a lot of synth..... sill have one of them, never thought a keyboard would last more than 35 years !
waiting for Yamaha Synths History
Looking soo forward to doing it. What do you think, should I include arrangers and drum machines? Ppl seems to be angry of not puting them in
@@TML0677 arrangers - tyros only, drum machines - no.
What happened to the T serious ?
I just missed them. Thinking about doing all Korg product video including missed ones, but with arrangers and drum machines. What do you think?
I think jx-8p from 1985
On Roland Synth chronicles it says 84...but on wiki its 85
@@TML0677 Service Note Manual - 1985 (May) . But maybe the manual came out later than the synthesizer? ))

Roland W-30 (1989) is missing
It's a sampler, all of them are missing here.
@@vintagesynthesizers Exactly. I had to draw a line somewhere..If I included Roland drum modules, machines, arrangers.. video would be 30 mins long

My brother had a T-2 and a SG ProX I loved them.
Mistakes noted already. Enough! Watching this, I noticed a whole bunch of photos are not included in Bjooks P&TWKorg. It is a cool history, and they go head-to-head with Roland.
Super 👌, my favorite synthesizer
there's a few missing such as T1 RANGE ALSO DRUM MACHINES AND DRUM PADS ETC ALSO THE OTHER ELECTRIBES ? VOLCA ?
T line is in the description. 3 volcas are in the video and drum machines I left out on purpose. There will be separate video about them and the arrangers.
The MT32 was quite a milestone as an affordable multitimbral rompler 🙂
MKS-20/RD-1000 ?
I left out elec. pianos, arrangers and drum machines. Somehow it doesn't feel as a true synth. Thanx for the comment.
nice one! i own a Korg dss -1
Lots of good information but several inaccuracies and omissions. Thank you for putting it together😊
Nice timeline demo. At 2:01 🙂miss labeled that’s a Moog Cordovox(cdx) sometimes called White Elephant. Had a “ cheesy “ organ for the lower manual and a Moog satellite for second.
